Job Description
We are seeking a competent and safety-focused Second Mate to join a unique vessel operations team. The successful candidate will play a key role in navigation, passage planning, and maintaining safety standards onboard.
Responsibilities
- Plan and execute voyages, including passage planning and route optimisation
- Maintain and update navigational charts and publications
- Stand navigational watch in accordance with regulations and company procedures
- Oversee safety equipment and ensure readiness for inspections and drills
- Assist with bridge operations, communications, and cargo activities
- Ensure compliance with SOLAS, MARPOL, and company safety standards
Requirements
- Valid Officer of the Watch (OOW) or higher Certificate of Competency
- STCW certification and valid seafarer/OGUK medical
- Previous experience as a deck officer preferred
- Strong knowledge of navigation systems and bridge equipment
- Good leadership, communication, and organisational skills
- Commitment to safety and professional standards
- Relevant certs and DP experience is a must
