Job Description

PG Global are taking candidates for experienced Bosuns for a project in Brazil. You will supervise the deck crew and ensure that all deck operations, maintenance, and seamanship tasks are carried out safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervision & Leadership

  • Lead and allocate daily work to the deck crew.

  • Ensure tasks are completed safely, efficiently, and to required standards.

  • Train, mentor, and guide junior deck ratings.

2. Deck Operations

  • Supervise mooring, anchoring, and towing operations.

  • Assist with cargo handling, lashing, and securing.

  • Oversee the use of lifting gear, cranes, and deck machinery.

  • Support offshore operations (if applicable: supply runs, DP support, rigging, ROV support).

3. Maintenance & Seamanship

  • Organize and supervise maintenance of hull, decks, fittings, and equipment.

  • Ensure proper upkeep of ropes, wires, rigging, and deck tools.

  • Carry out painting, cleaning, rust removal, and repair tasks.

4. Safety & Compliance

  • Enforce company safety policies and permit-to-work systems.

  • Ensure crew use proper PPE and follow safe working practices.

  • Assist in conducting safety drills (fire, abandon ship, man overboard).

  • Report unsafe conditions and equipment defects to officers.

5. Teamwork & Reporting

  • Act as the link between deck officers and deck ratings.

  • Communicate work progress, challenges, and needs to the Chief Mate.

  • Maintain discipline, teamwork, and a positive work culture among the crew.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Previous sea service as Able Seafarer (AB) with proven leadership experience.

  • STCW Basic Safety Training and relevant certificates up to date.

  • Knowledge of seamanship, rigging, knots, and safe deck practices.

  • Physically fit and able to work in challenging marine environments.

  • Good communication skills in English and Spanish
