Job Description

PG Global is looking for an Operator Navigator for a role in Brazil. Needed to operate marine navigation systems, assist in voyage planning, and ensure accurate position tracking and safe passage of vessels in compliance with maritime regulations.

Requirements:

  • Vast ORCA Experience
  • Certificate in Marine Navigation

  • STCW (Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers) Basic Safety Training is mandatory.

  • High-level certifications (e.g., Officer of the Watch – OOW)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Voyage & Route Planning

    • Assist in preparing and updating nautical charts, maps, and passage plans.

    • Calculate courses, distances, fuel estimates, and estimated time of arrival (ETA).

  • Navigation & Position Tracking

    • Operate GPS, radar, echo sounders, ECDIS (Electronic Chart Display and Information System), and compass systems.

    • Determine vessel’s position using both electronic and traditional methods (dead reckoning, celestial navigation if applicable).

    • Record navigation data in ship’s logbooks.

  • Monitoring & Safety

    • Maintain a proper navigational watch under the officer’s supervision.

    • Monitor traffic, weather conditions, and navigational hazards.

    • Assist in collision-avoidance maneuvers and ensure compliance with COLREGs (International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea).
